Transactional emails
Playlistation can loose the connection to Spotify, and I currently have no way to notify you so you can reconnect to refresh the token and get syncing work again. Having a way to send simple transactional emails would help. It could also send weekly summary (for user who opted in) about the changes in the library and smart playlists
Improve suggested playlists
Suggested playlists (Discover tab) are really simple today, it’s a top of the most liked artists and genres. This update will analyse the entire library to find cluster of songs that are similar on some criterias (filters) so it’s easier to get started and find new ways to sort your library
Real shuffle
A lot of people are complaining about Spotify shuffle not being random, or having the same artist multiple times in a row. Playlistation will allows you to randomize one of your playlists, my modifying it or duplicate it (you would have “My awesome playlists” and “My awesome playlist randomized” with a true randomizer function that will also make sure to space out artists.
Show user sessions
Allows the user to see every device he is connected to Playlistation so it can easily be removed. Useful on a shared computer where the user forgot to logout.
Add documentation
Add some documentation of how Playlistation works, how every filters works etc so human an AI agents can understand how to get the playlist they want. It will also help with SEO that is near inexistant today (ie: searching google for terms like “automatic sorting spotify library by [genre/release date/like date/BPM]” etc does not show Playlistation.
New Pricing
Having 2 plans is too complicated, and the Pro plan is too expensive. I’m working on a new pricing with only one plan
Backup
I saw some Reddit post about someone loosing it’s entire library. I will add a backup to Playlistation. The library will be saved (~every day or so) and you will be able to transfer it to any Spotify account (re-apply the liked tracks). Maybe also a CSV export.
New sources
Today the source of smart playlists is your liked tracks (library). With this update, you would be able to select other sources like X playlists and apply the filters. For example, you could choose 5 public “summer playlists” as input source, deduplicate, and filters to remove long songs or remove a specific artist you don’t like.
Playlist Events History
Playlists will have a timeline with the history of when tracks were added/removed and when filters were updated
